Correct? “He IS doING his project quickly!”
Grammar Update: TO BE Verb + Present Continuous
Let’s get you off the Strugglebus, friend!
Here’s a 2-minute Pocket Guide that will solve all of your problems 😉
These words are a major part of your life!
If you’re reading this, you’re a “Doer.”
You get things “done,” when it’s difficult! You even speak a second language!
You know the vocab. But the moment to use it?
That’s the real tea, here. 🍵
Simple Fix:
👉 DO = Present (now, habits)
👉 DOING = Present Continuous (happening right now or temporarily)
👉 DID = Past (finished)
Why is it so easy to mix up?
In other languages, time is understood from context clues, but in English, the verb itself changes.
How to use them correctly:
Pause and ask: When did this happen?
Regularly → Do
I do yoga.
Right now → Doing
I’m doing the dishes, I’ll call you right back :)
Yesterday → Did
I did the laundry yesterday.
Look for time signals
Every day → Do
Do you shop here often?
Currently or Now → Doing
I’m doing my quarterly review.
Last week → Did
I did my spring cleaning already.
Practice one sentence, three ways
I do the task.
I am doing the task.
I did the task.
This builds instinct faster than memorizing rules.
Pro Tip: Repeat #3 above 100 times in a row. Then, you’ll never forget it 😁
