Prepositions are small words.
But they cause a lot of stress for many English learners. 😬
Even fluent speakers get stuck on:
👉 “In the meeting” or “at the meeting”?
👉 “On the table” or “next to the table”?
👉 “Go to the client” or “go from the client”?
This is what I call:
The Preposition Strugglebus 🚍
But good news: there's a simple trick.
It’s called The Box Theory.
(And it makes English easier to see, feel, and remember.)
Think of a box. Then ask: where is the thing?
📦 In the box = inside
📦 On the box = on top
📦 Next to the box = beside it
📦 Under the box = below
📦 Behind the box = at the back
📦 In front of the box = at the front
📦 To the box = going toward
📦 From the box = going away
When you see the image below, you remember the meaning.
💡 That’s why I tell my clients: “Don’t memorize words. Memorize the picture.”
🎯 In a meeting, if you say “It went from the supplier to the client,” you're showing movement.
If you say “The files are on the table,” everyone knows exactly where to look.
🧠 Using prepositions well = Clarity. Confidence. Credibility.
And if you're still nervous?
You’re not alone. 99% of learners feel this way.
But when you understand the logic behind the words, it gets so much easier.
Trust me—your English brain just wants a clear map.
